7,639 Smiles on International Charity Haircut Day

On 15 May, 7,639 people across 103 cities in Russia and the CIS saw a new reflection in the mirror during International Charity Haircut Day.

This year, marking the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, more than a thousand volunteer stylists gave veterans, children of war, orphanage residents and hospital patients something far beyond a new look – care, attention and hope.

Over 12 hours, from Anadyr to the western regions, stylists from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan turned an ordinary May day into a celebration of beauty and humanity.

ESTEL is proud to support this project, founded by Tatyana Ovsyannikova, author of Hairdresser of Kindness. Summing up the results, she said:
“It’s more than haircuts – it’s 8,000 good deeds in one day. Stylists themselves became ambassadors of kindness, and each comes back fulfilled, knowing their work brings happiness.”

Looking ahead, the team dreams of a “Week of Kindness” in 2026, doubling the geography of the event and sharing stories of everyday heroes.

Anyone can join – sometimes, all it takes is a pair of scissors and an open heart.
